Diaper Rash Treatment

We have decided to launch the Bebcare Academy - a series of short blog post that helps parents understand common problems that affect your baby. We are starting the first of the series with a topic that concerns many parents - diaper rash.

Diaper rash is a common form of inflamed skin (dermatitis) that appears as a patchwork of bright red skin on your baby's bottom. Help your baby by following dermatologists’ tips to prevent and treat diaper rash at home.

👉 Change dirty diapers as soon as possible.
👉 Be gentle when cleaning the diaper area.
👉 Apply a zinc oxide diaper cream.
👉 Rinse your baby's bottom with warm water as part of each diaper change.
👉 Don't over tighten diapers.

Signs of a skin infection may include a fever, blisters, pus that drains from the rash, and a rash that does not go away after treatment or worsens. Another sign of a skin infection is if the baby is in pain or is hard to console. 😭

If your baby's skin doesn't improve after a few days of home treatment, talk with your doctor. Sometimes, you'll need a prescription medication to treat diaper rash. 🤓🤞
