The picture on a baby monitor drops for one of two reasons. A wall or a floor sits between the camera and the parent unit, or the camera is waiting on your home WiFi.
If you want the picture on a parent unit, and you do not want the camera on home WiFi, open Bebcare Motion. If you need the other room on the same screen, open the 2-camera kit. If you want the picture in a phone app, open Bebcare iQ. The longer comparison of those types is the non-WiFi and WiFi guide.
Motion sends video on its own link to a parent unit with a 4.3-inch screen. Setup does not ask for a WiFi password. The link does not use Bluetooth, and it does not use a phone app. You leave the parent unit on through the night. The phone stays a phone.
iQ is a 1080p camera on your home WiFi. You watch it in the Bebcare app, and the app needs the home network. When the router is busy, off, or far from the nursery, the picture in the app waits on that network. Motion does not use that router.
The Motion page and the kit page state a range of up to 800 feet. That figure is the stated range. A house is not an open path. A wall or a floor between the camera and the parent unit can stop the picture inside that number. This page does not report a room-by-room test.
| What is in the way | Parent unit (Motion) | Phone app (iQ) |
|---|---|---|
| One interior wall | The link is the camera to the parent unit. It does not pass through the router. | The camera still needs a path to the router, and the phone needs the same network. |
| One floor | The parent unit has to reach through the floor. Move the parent unit, or move the camera, and try again. The stated 800 feet is not a promise through a floor. | The router path now includes the floor as well. The app cannot skip that path. |
| Brick or masonry | A thick brick wall is a hard radio path for a parent-unit link. The stated range does not remove the wall. | The same wall sits on the path to the router. |
| Router in the nursery | Motion does not join that router. The parent unit is the screen. | The camera shares the router with the rest of the house. Other devices on that network use the same connection. |
A second room is a different problem from a wall. If you need two rooms on one screen, the page is the 2-camera kit. The set is one Motion monitor plus one additional Motion camera. Both rooms show on the one 4.3-inch parent unit. The stated range is up to 800 feet. This kit does not use home WiFi.
The single Motion set includes one camera. That parent unit can pair with up to four cameras. The kit is the box that already includes two.
Bebcare Hear is the audio monitor. It has a parent unit and a baby unit, and no camera. The Hear page states a range of up to 2,000 feet. Hear uses a local link, so it does not need home WiFi or a phone app. If you only need to hear the room, there is no picture to lose.
Motion has a night light on the camera. Linda is a separate music player and night light. Linda is not a baby monitor.
On Motion, low emission means the ultra-low radiation mode is on. That is a statement about the radio in the product. Motion is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition, and it does not take the place of an adult in the room.
The 2-camera kit page states its own figure: 94 percent reduced wireless EMF compared with an average baby monitor. That number is the kit page's claim.
Check which path the picture uses. A parent-unit monitor can lose the picture when a wall or a floor blocks the link. A WiFi monitor can lose the picture when the router or the home network is the weak point. Motion uses the parent unit. iQ uses the home network.
A parent-unit link can pass an ordinary interior wall, and it can also fail. One floor, or brick, is a harder path. The Motion page states up to 800 feet. That stated range is not a measurement through your walls. This page does not add a house test.
Motion, the 2-camera kit, and Hear do not use home WiFi. The router does not carry their picture or their sound. iQ does use the home network, because the app does.
Open the 2-camera kit. Split screen is two cameras on one parent unit. A stronger router does not add the second room to a Motion parent unit.
The Motion page and the kit page both state up to 800 feet. Hear, which is audio only, states up to 2,000 feet. A house can be shorter than the stated figure.
One room, video, no WiFi: Motion. Two rooms on one screen: the 2-camera kit. A phone app on home WiFi: iQ. Sound only: Hear. The type comparison is the non-WiFi and WiFi guide.
